Covid-19 has made this year tumultuous to say the least. Karim Jewellers was closed for several months during the first lockdown and the business landscape, especially for small businesses has not been the same since.

Now that we are open again, we’d like to assure you, our customers, that we are taking all the advised precautions to keep you safe.

Here are some of the changes that you will see once you enter our store:

• Hand sanitizer station for entering and leaving the store
• Strict adherence to the mask policy – we will politely decline interaction until you have put your mask on
• Seamless plexiglass barriers on all counters limiting contact
• Contactless payment available
• More frequent cleaning schedule

We would like to remind everyone that in order to remain safe they should:

• Please self-isolate if you are not feeling well, especially if you are experiencing fever, cough, shortness of breath, or other symptoms of Covid-19
• ALWAYS wear a mask properly, covering your nose and fitting it flush to your face. Cloth masks are more effective if they are made up of several layers.
• Keep your distance – stay at least 6 feet away from others.
• Cover your mouth when coughing or sneezing
• Wash your hands often with soap. You may use hand sanitizer, but washing is more effective.

The holidays are a time to gather and appreciate our loved ones but that is not possible for everyone during this time. Please stay safe. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those in our community who are dealing with hardship, especially if they are affected by Covid-19.

Small businesses have been hit especially hard by the pandemic, so we would urge our customers and community members to remember our small businesses and do all that you can to support them. Many are offering curbside pickup and delivery, so please take advantage of their services.

Here are some other ways you can support small businesses:

• Order for curbside pickup from your local small business
• Order takeout or delivery from local restaurants
• Leave helpful reviews on Google and other sites for your favourite local business
• Follow local businesses on social media by searching for hashtags such as #shoplocal #localbusiness and your local neighbourhood or city.
